The Cockpit Consoles on the Embraer 135 & 145 regional jets are realizing a high removal rate due to the lip and floor panel being broken and/or damaged by crew flight bags. Due to the nature of these components and the mode of failure, warranty is not an accepted resolution.
Comtek has recently developed a repaired unit that, in essence, is equivalent to a new unit made from a tougher material with increased durability. In addition, key areas have been strengthened to eliminate the failure modes that have been experienced in service. The photo on the right shows the repaired unit, painted and installed in the cockpit.
Comtek's repair will dramatically increase the life and durability of these units. The repair, as for all of Comtek's repairs, comes with our industry-leading warranty of two years.
The photo at left shows the unit before painting. Note the metal brackets installed by Comtek to reinforce the areas which are typically damaged. This ensures that the failure mode is not repeated, so that the part lasts much longer in service.
