Comtek offers a full range of engineering services, from conceptual product or process design through final airworthiness approval, covering repair development, product improvement, and reverse engineering. Comtek is a Transport Canada Design Approval Organization consisting of three delegate engineers on staff with structures and/or flammability delegation.
Comtek's design platforms include Catia and Mechanical Desktop, with interfaces enabling transfer of CAD data to any other system. Assemblies are fully represented as solid models, which are directly used for tool design and creation of complete manufacturing and installation drawings as required. Comtek uses PolyWorks flow simulation software to assist in the design and optimization of tooling for resin injected components.
Structural substantiation reports are prepared using traditional hand analysis techniques or finite element methods as required. Comtek's FEA capability includes regular static, non-linear (material or geometric), and thermal analysis of individual components or complex assemblies using industry standard MSC/Nastran software products. For analysis of compact fittings, CAD data may be imported directly and meshed to produce detailed solid models. Composite structures are analyzed on a ply by ply basis using classical laminate theory. When necessary, structural testing is performed in the Comtek Test Laboratory to produce data required for analysis or to verify analysis results.
Flammability test plans and reports are prepared in accordance with the FAA fire test handbook and Transport Canada requirements. Vertical, horizontal, and 45° burn testing is also conducted in the Comtek Test Laboratory.
For in-service product support, Comtek develops maintenance manual and illustrated parts catalog supplements, allow operators to repair and maintain their components in the field.
All components are delivered with full certification, fully finished and ready for installation; which can be performed on-site by Comtek if required. Comtek provides a complete customer support package including technical support, spares, repair schemes and maintenance manual supplements.
Comtek routinely produces cabin components such as galleys, lavatories, wardrobes, entertainment cabinets, stowage bins, life raft stowage cabinets and bulkheads. Cockpit components include map holders, glare shields, equipment shelves and stowage bins.
Comtek also produces operator consoles, equipment racks and medical cabinets for special mission aircraft.
