Eastman M9000 CNC Ply Cutter
Our Eastman M9000 CNC ply cutter has been in service since the summer of 2004. The machine can be programmed either directly from a CAD file, or by electronically tracing a ply that has been custom cut by hand to fit a complex shape.
The advantages offered by the ply cutter include:
- Consistent, accurate plies, which aid in the speed and quality of a lay-up.
- Substantial reduction in the labour hours associated with manually cutting material (days in the case of more complex parts).
- Adjustable ply nesting that significantly reduces material wastage and allows for quantity optimization.
- Quick kit cutting that allows perishable material to be prepared for future work without reducing the allowable out-time.
Originally brought in to cut material for the A380 packboards and aspirators, the utilization of this equipment has increased and is now used to cut material for every repeatable job in both manufacturing and repairs.
