Motoman K10 Robot
Comtek's Motoman K10 articulated 6-axis robotic arm is used to precisely route, trim, and drill composite parts. Comtek’s highly automated and fully integrated robotic cell is designed to work continuously in a hazardous industrial environment. The robotic arm has allowed Comtek to greatly increase the accuracy, repeatability, and speed with which parts are machined.
The robot can be fixtured and programmed to cut and drill any number of complex parts. Vast improvements in production cycle time are immediately evident. The improved accuracy and consistency of parts machined on the robot also reduces non-conformances and reworks.
Comtek is currently using the robot to trim and drill as many manufactured parts as possible. This has reduced the cost of tooling used to manufacture these parts since interchangeability and accuracy of machining are no longer a part of the tool’s function.
